Is it racist to go somewhere you aren’t from and impose your beliefs on the native people, or is it spreading moral truths?

In all seriousness, the infamous company Blackstone, known for a shared past with Blackrock, DEI practices, and apparently private mercenary work, has made an offer to InfoCom, a company in Japan known for owning about half of the manga and anime market. They are certainly not the only interested party, but being non-Japanese and having a reputation that is quite divisive, Blackstone is the one everyone is talking about.
We do not see this as a good thing.
Without bringing up their notorious track record, there’s the huge problem of a company purchasing something and not understanding or respecting the goods or services they provide. Is that inherently wrong? No. That’s business and how a capitalist market works. Does it mean there’s a significant chance that the investment becomes a money pit? Absolutely.
On top of that, manga and anime have their own history that, to this day, have a stigma that many still lean into. The sexualization of young- or seemingly young- characters has an unfortunate history with the sexual history of Japan, some of which is very, very dark.
Do I think that history is good? Hell no- it’s incredibly tragic and has had dire consequences for many, especially women and children as an open secret.
Japan’s conservative philosophies and habits have been a boon and a bane for this reason. Their hesitance to adopt new ideas and beliefs means that homosexuality and protection laws for children have been slow to form, but they also haven’t abandoned traditions and values, such as the family unit and self-improvement.
With that being said, an outside company that doesn’t respect the culture of the place they’re purchasing sounds like a disaster.
